Bitterfeld
Arc ... ... is completed in spring 2006. With a formal
celebration Bitterfeld Arc becomes turned over to it's destination. The
art piece, with an altitude of 28 meters, 81 meters in length and
14 meters breadthwise, designed by the Frankfurt sculptor Claus
Bury, is to be seen widely as a new land mark on the Bitterfeld
hill. The arcitectural sculpture, accessible on 540 meters gangway,
is the new trademark in the former chemistry and brown coal
area of Bitterfeld-Wolfen. It symbolizes the successful transformation
to a new center of technological and scientific research as well
as a sustainable landscape of nature, lakes and recreation. This
impressive steel construction, reminding to a huge excavator shovel
of the brown coal area, is to be seen on top of the headed up and
vegetated "Bitterfelder Berg".
