Field of Stelae: The final design envisages around 2,700 concrete slabs (stelae), arranged in a grid
pattern. They are 0.95 cm deep and 2.38 m wide and vary only in height. The
stelae stand on gently and unevenly sloping ground covering 19,000 square
metres. The public is able to enter and walk through the field from all four
sides.
Without exception, the Field of Stelae can only be entered on foot. Visitors should proceed at a
normal walking speed through the field.
There are 13 pathways which are specially suitable for visitors with a mobility
impairment and visitors in wheelchairs. These pathways have a maximum
incline of 8%.
All axes are 0.95 m in width. - The crossing axes are only readily visible in a few areas. Visitors should be careful.
Car-parks for
disabled:
Disabled have four especially
marked car-parks at Cora-Berliner-Straße at their disposal.
Elevator: The subterranean Information Centre can be entered by an
elevator.
Wheelchair
drivers:
The Field of Stelae has got 13 walk-in axis which are easy to
pass since their slope doesn´t extend 8%. They are marked by especially
perforated paving stones and cast-ironed ground pictographs at the boundary to
the public pavement. (wheelchair-symbols). The Information Centre is accessible
to people with disabilities by elevator. There are no barriers, stairs or
obstacles inside. There is a wheelchair-accessible bathroom.
Elderly people can borrow wheelchairs at the reception desk for the time of the
visit.
